Good letting agents will require at least a Periodic Inspection Report to rent out your property. A check every 5 years is often the requirement.

For properties from June 1992 there is a requirement to have inter-connected mains operated smoke alarms fitted on every level. In older properties this is not a requirement, but landlords are expected to provide at least battery operated smoke alarms and to regularly check these are working, which makes the mains operated smoke alarms a better and safer option.
